Core units available now by Distance Learning

A fast track method for experienced advocates

If you are an experienced advocate we now offer the core units by distance learning. It is recommended that advocates attend their specialist unit first so that they understand the principles of portfolio building before undertaking distance learning however this is not always possible. In those cases, the initial assessment and induction process becomes extremely important in clarifying the requirements of the qualification before studying commences. We cannot recommend this method for newly appointed advocates.

The Mental Capacity Act

Level 3 Certificate in Independent Advocacy City and Guilds (7566)

Advocacy in Somerset is an accredited centre for these courses

We are running courses at our Meare Green, Taunton, Training Centre. Our fee for the Level 3 Certificate in Independent Advocacy is £1320. Email us at advocacyqualification@advocacyinsomerset.org.uk for more information. We will be taking the training package to Advocacy Services own venues nationally where numbers permit. Learners can gain credits for individual units or for the complete Certificate. It is suitable for all existing advocates, workers looking for an introductory award who may have just started working in the sector, and professionals who use advocacy skills as part of another role.

Congratulations Mike Pochin

Mike Pochin completed his Diploma in Independent Advocacy (Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards) on 31st January 2010. We have a number of other learners who will soon complete both diplomas and certificates.
